Agewell has been set up to initiate better interaction between the generations. It endeavors to: - Bring about a change in perceptions of Old Age - Initiate steps towards a senior citizens-friendly environment - Evolve a sense of moral and social responsibility towards senior citizens - Advocate for the needs and rights of senior citizens - Extend a helping hand to senior citizens wherever required
About This Cause
Agewell Foundation, India Vision Agewell Foundation is committed to make a coordinated effort with compassion and understanding to transform social attitudes towards senior citizens. The effort is to create the infrastructure to empower every older person. AGEWELL FOUNDATION - AT A GLANCE Agewell Foundation is an initiative for the welfare and empowerment of older persons across the country since 1999. • Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC, United Nations since 2011 • Accredited with the United Nations Department of Public Information (UN-DPI-NGO) as an associate NGO • Chairman, Working Group on Awareness and Capacity Building for Senior Citizens, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India • Member, Sub-Group on Elderly Care, under NITI Aayog's CSOs Standing Committee, GoI • Member, Committee of Experts on "impact of COVID-19 pandemic on human rights and future response", National Human Rights Commission • Member, Working Group on Older Persons, National Human Rights Commission • Participated in Several United Nations Conferences, including Working Sessions of the Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing with various capacities like Panelist etc. • Participated as a Speaker at the Subregional Conference: Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in South Asia: Reflections and Way Forward for ADB, October 2022 – Paro, Bhutan • Member, Working group on Reforming the Social Deviants and Caring the Other Disadvantaged, for XIIth, XIth & Xth Five-year-plan, Planning Commission (Now NITI Aayog) • Set up a Consortium of over 1500 NGOs and a Two-tier national voluntary network - 7500 primary & 80000 secondary volunteers spread across 768 districts of India • Sabera Not-for-Profit of the Year Award 2023 and Mahatma Award for Social Good & Impact, 2022 Agewell Foundation’s Major Initiatives • Agewell Helplines for Older Persons since 1999 – Helped over 8.2 million+ older persons so far • Agewell Research & Advocacy Centre for Needs & Rights of Older Persons – Conducted 54 National Surveys on issues concerning old people, organized a Series of symposia on their Needs & Rights • Distribution of Healthcare Equipment (Wheelchairs, Walkers, Adult Diapers, etc.) to destitute elderly– 53,500+ Wheelchairs, 1.95 million+ Adult Diapers, 305,500+ Walkers, 4600+ Folding Cots, 576,500+ Walking sticks distributed so far • Distribution of Food Ration Packets to poor elderly living in slums – Over 116,000 monthly food packets distributed among destitute old people since the year 2020 • Distribution of 19,800+ Nutri Kits, 19,100+ Wellness Kits and 13700+ Gift Packs among destitute elderly since the year 2020 • Digital Literacy Program for Older Persons – Over 464,000 older persons have benefited so far • Share the Warmth Campaign during winters – Collection and distribution of 38.5 lakh+ pcs among the destitute and elderly since the year 2010 • Employment Exchange for Older Persons –141,800+ retired elderly assisted over the years Major Supporters over the years SMBC, Adobe, Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation, Google, Mercer Consulting, Oracle, Microsoft, ITC, Honasa Consumer Ltd., ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation, Engineers India Ltd., GAIL India, ITPO, Azim Premji Foundation, Abhay Dan (Trust), Tower Vision, KPMG, Kantar, Oiles India, Canara HSBC OBC Life Insurance, Squalor to Scholar USA, Center for Curiosity USA, Nobel Hygiene, Vijay Sales, etc. www.agewellfoundation.org
