Mission Statement

We are on a mission to equip, mobilize, educate, and empower girls and women to achieve gender equality. We envision a future in India where girls and women are fully empowered and enabled to realize their rights and opportunities and achieve gender equality

About This Cause

We are an organization committed to ensuring no woman or girl in India is denied her basic rights. For over 35 years, we have been designing and implementing interventions that work with the existing systems to deliver solutions at scale. We engage with girls and women at every stage of their life span, ensuring young girls have access to health and nutrition, to life skills education and digital literacy as they navigate through adolescence. Our programs aim to enable them to stay in school, delay their marriage, pursue career aspirations, make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. We ensure that all women are aware and have access to livelihood opportunities, quality reproductive and maternal health services, and respectful care. We equip grassroots women leaders to strengthen their voices and advance women’s issues in their communities and society at large. C3 strives to offer unwavering support at every step of the way to achieve gender equality. Our programs reflect local values and we leverage existing systems to achieve scalability and longevity of our impact. C3’s work centres around four core areas of intervention: Girls Empowerment: C3 ensures that young girls grow up to be self-confident, well-informed about their rights and entitlements, and equipped to make better choices around their well-being and professional progression. To help them achieve this, C3 facilitates the process of girls in growing their agency, decision-making, and self-esteem, delaying their marriage, staying in school, and developing the digital and financial literacy and livelihood skills required to keep up with a rapidly digitized world. Youth engagement: C3 works to ensure young people have awareness and access to services around sexual and reproductive health and critical life skills education (which incorporates information and skills on negotiation, leadership, self-confidence, agency-building, nutrition, bullying, substance abuse, mental health, body image, and more). To work towards achieving gender equity that is truly inclusive, we ensure that young boys are sensitized around gender stereotypes and toxic masculinity, building an ecosystem of respect, equality, support, and development. Reproductive and Maternal Health: C3 ensures that every woman, everywhere, every time is receiving compassionate and respectful maternity care, by training healthcare providers and collaborating with institutions to integrate quality, equity, dignity within the healthcare system. We also design mechanisms to ensure communities are aware of their rights around accessing reproductive health, and that men are involved in conversations and decision-making around family planning. Gender Equity: C3 mentors and builds the capacities of women leaders from Panchayati Raj Institutions and Self-Help Groups to tackle important, gender-sensitive issues, understand the governance process, gain confidence and agency, mitigate gender-based discrimination in their communities, and strengthen their voices in grassroots decision-making. C3 gathers evidence on the various issues that impact the day-to-day lives of women and leverages it for designing women-centric programs. Our Uniqueness: Scalability and replicability: C3’s projects are designed to be implemented at-scale – i.e, we always take a broader outlook, building projects that are relevant to not just a single community, but to communities and vulnerable populations across the country. Often, our projects implemented within a particular region are designed to be replicable in another region too. Sustainability: We ensure that our impact becomes self-sustaining and achieves a shift in the larger ecosystem. We equip communities to continue the chain of change even after our project period is concluded. Government partnerships and networks: We are a trusted ally of the government, and work in tandem with government institutions, government schemes, and mechanisms, to catalyze lasting change. We are also the founding member and national secretariat of the White Ribbon Alliance of Safe Motherhood in India, an alliance of over 5000 voluntary organizations. Understanding localized problems: While we focus on broader change, we also identify and address issues specific to local communities and regions, incorporating community participation in solving these issues.
