About This Cause
The Ronald McDonald House Charity was set up in Ireland in 1997. We opened a 16 bedroom Ronald McDonald House in November 2004 on the grounds of Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin. In 2010 we opened a second 4 bedroom Ronald McDonald House across the road. We provide accommodation, care and support for 20 families every night. Our first House cost us €3.75 million to build. Our Second House cost €750,000. Our annual running costs are €500,000. We have never received any State Funding. We rely on the generosity of our many families and supporters to help us to raise the funds required to provide these facilities for our families when they find themselves far from home with a very sick child. Each bedroom can accommodate four people so mum, dad and the other siblings can stay together and be part of the sick child's recovery. A New National Children's Hospital will open on the grounds of St James's Hospital, Rialto in 2023. We are working very closely with the New Hospital Development Board with a view to providing a New 53 Bedroom Ronald McDonald House alongside the new hospital when it opens in 2023. We estimate we will need to raise in the region of €19 million to realise this ambitious plan. With the continued support of our amazing donors and friends we are confident that we will succeed.
