The 105-I Charitable Trust Fund

Cork, Munster, T12 C9H9 Ireland

Mission Statement

The charity is a trust fund for the benefit of the Lions Clubs of Ireland. Lions Clubs International, formed in 1917, is the largest service organisation in the world and the first Lions Club was chartered in Ireland in 1957. In the centenary year, we celebrate our sixtieth anniversary of charitable services to our community through 104 Lions Clubs in Ireland.

About This Cause

Lions Clubs in Ireland have several signature charitable projects, the main one is our Christmas Food Appeal when Food Hampers worth several million Euro are donated to the poor in local communities. Next is our Holiday Project when 700 elderly guests from socially deprived areas are brought on a one week holiday with all amenities provided including accommodation, food, entertainment and friendship. We have a Diabetic Screening Project to identify those with high sugar levels with potential for developing diabetes. At the holiday project the guests, Lions members, staff of the holiday centre and helpers, a total of about 800 are tested and medical advice given when appropriate. At the National Ploughing Championship each September several thousand citizens are tested. We have an Alcohol Awareness service for schools and a Suicide Awareness project for community group, sports clubs and schools staff. We have several youth projects to develop community involvement by young people, a youth football competition and a Peace Poster contest for younger children.
