Mission Statement
Dawn Court Day Centre CLG was established to provide a range of non-housing services to older and vulnerable people in our local community. The continued provision of these services is aided by funding from the Health Service Executive. Our mission is to provide assistance and services to both the tenants in Dawn Court and older and vulnerable people in the wider community, to help them maintain independent living and combat social isolation. Our aims are: • To provide affordable, nutritious and well-balanced meals to older and vulnerable people who need them in our locality, • To reduce social isolation and enhance individual’s quality of life through the provision of social, recreational, and other basic support services, • To encourage and support caregivers to older and vulnerable people in our community.
About This Cause
Based in the small rural community of Dromin/Athlacca in county Limerick Dawn Court Day Centre provides services to older people and those who are vulnerable in the area. We have an extensive subsidized Meals on Wheels service where we deliver meals to people in our local area and to the communities nearby. This is one of our more vital services as we not only provide nutritious, healthy meals we also check in on those who are isolated and lonely. All of our meals are delivered by the most wonderful volunteers. In our Centre we offer services such as lunch, chiropody, sewing, craft, bingo, skills classes, talks, exercise classes and we have recently added a Social Hub where people can meet and have tea/coffee, play board games, read the newspaper and have a chat. We organize some outings throughout the year where we take a bus and go on an adventure. Last year we went to a country music show which was a great hit with everyone. We work closely with Dromin/Athlacca Housing Project CLG who are another charity. They have a group of 20 houses for older & vulnerable people in the community. Our Centre is in the same place as these houses and we offer supports to those residents also. We always have plans for expansion and we always want to reach more people who would benefit from our services.
