Mission Statement
Africa Direct is a small charity based in Cork run by an all voluntary membership. It works with local partners in four African countries, Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi and the DRC. Our Aim is to help to alleviate poverty. It was set up to facilitate people to get involved, hands-on, in overseas aid and new members are always welcome. Our partners are both religious and civil society organisations. They work with communities to empower people to become self sufficient. Projects range from childrens education particularly those who have lost out on education due to poverty to practical training courses for youths from the slums such as plumbing and hairdressing which lead to employment. Women, mothers, are the focus of many training and employment projects. We also partner with organisations on infrastructure projects with strict guidelines on building standards for sustainability and longevity.
