Mission Statement
Cork DAWG is a registered charity which was founded in 2007 to address the ever growing problem of unwanted and abused dogs in Cork.
About This Cause
Cork DAWG was formed in 2007 to help combat the huge problem of unwanted dogs in Cork city and county. Our mission is to rescue, treat and provide new homes for unwanted, neglected and abused dogs in Cork and to give them a second chance at life. Since our foundation, the number of dogs in our care has greatly increased, in no small part due to the economic downturn. We regularly have over 70 dogs in our care, either at our temporary shelter or in foster homes awaiting adoption. For every dog that is adopted, more are waiting to come in. We are comprised almost entirely of volunteers. Each year, the number of dogs we help increases and, annually, we rescue and re-home several hundred dogs. Fundraising is an ongoing challenge against a backdrop of increasing costs. We are very grateful to our supporter base without whom we could not continue our vital work. Our dogs are fostered by a network of volunteer foster families in Cork city and county.
