Mission Statement

All Together in Dignity (ATD) is a low budget, volunteer based, grass-roots community organisation which works to eliminate poverty and ensure human rights are respected. As part of the wider International Movement ATD, ATD Ireland believes that this can only be achieved if all sectors of society work together in partnership and that due prominence is given to those who have direct experience of poverty. For the past 20 years, ATD in Ireland has been close to family members facing persistent poverty and struggling daily to live in dignity. ATD runs a wide range of "voice to the voiceless" projects focused on the empowerment of youth and adults facing poverty towards active citizenship. ATD Ireland is one of the leading organisation member of the Irish Committee for the United Nations' Day for the Eradication of Poverty (www.17october.ie). ATD is also member of Coalition 2030, Dóchas, the Children’s Rights Alliance, the Community Platform, IDEA, EAPN Ireland, Social Justice Ireland & the Wheel.

About This Cause

All Together in Dignity (ATD) has been present in Ireland since 1999. Currently ATD runs the following projects and you can volunteer or donate to support them: - The "Leave No One Behind" befreinding project: ATD volunteers visit people living in hostels or socially disadvantaged areas. Often, because of the many obstacles they have faced since childhood, the parents met have children in care, mental health issues and/or addictions. Little by little, ATD builds with them a relationship based on trust and respect. “What helps me the most is meeting people like you, people who don’t judge me, people with who I don’t have to wear a mask, people who have a positive outlook and believe in me.” - "Does it only happen to me? " Campaign to gain the recognition in the Irish Equal Status Act of the Socio-Economic Status as ground of discrimination - The "Unity in the Community Youth Group" - A young adults youth group created by young people from different backgrounds focused on the Agenda 2030 challenge of leaving no one behind! See previous project: www.ihaveadream.ie - The "Leave No One Behind Conversations" - to be started in November 2019 - more details about the first series of conversations at www.leavenoonebehind.ie - The "UN End Poverty Day" project: Each year, ATD marks the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty in Ireland on 17 October, and work with the Irish 17 October Committee to coordinate a commemoration on the Custom House quay in Dublin, making sure that the voice of the poorest are at the heart of this event. Visit the Irish 17 October Committee website: www.17october.ie! - the "Magnificent 17" project: Since September 2015, ATD raises awareness about the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Global Goals. In addition to this global framework ATD promotes also among Irish stakeholders the newly-adopted “UN Guiding Principles on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights” (Sept. 2012). Based on internationally agreed human rights principles and standards, the Guiding Principles provide practical guidance on how to put into practice the obligations of States to respect, protect and fulfil the rights of persons living in extreme poverty. How do these projects ensure Value For Money? ATD Ireland and International is guided by a “Charter of the Financial Ethics” which orientates all our actions towards achieving value for money (download the charter here: http://www.atdireland.ie/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Charter-financial-ethics-ATD.pdf). ATD Ireland is a volunteer based organisation and operates on a very low budget (€110k in 2018). Full-time project workers (members of ATD's overseas volunteer corps) receive a small stipend and ATD covers accommodation costs. ATD Ireland complied to all the request of the new Charity Regulation Authority.
