Mission Statement

"Inspired by the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, we at the Capuchin Day Centre welcome people in need of food aid who have no home, or are socially excluded and respecting their dignity, provide a caring pastoral, holistic and non-judgmental service responsive to their needs" (Mission Statement)

About This Cause

Since 1969 the Capuchin Day Centre has been providing food and day care facilities for people who are homeless or in need. From small beginnings it has grown to be the biggest food centre of it kind and today provides approximately 800/1000 meals per day. Apart from the people who eat on the premises, we also provide food parcels for families struggling to feed the families in the current crisis. Child poverty is very evident here in the Centre and with the rise in family homelessness we now provide baby food, nappies and other essentials to families in emergency accommodation. We also have a medical service that is delivered by professionals on a pro bono basis. The Centre is run as an apostolate (charitable work) of the Irish Capuchin Franciscan Order and in keeping with its Franciscan ethos, we operate an "open door" policy and make no charge for any of our services. We are so grateful to the kind benefactors who have helped us keep this lifeline for people in need operating for over 50 years.
