Mission Statement

Mental Health Ireland promotes mental health, wellbeing and recovery to individuals and communities throughout Ireland.

About This Cause

MHI’s vision is for an Ireland where mental health is valued as being an essential part of personal wellbeing and the health of the nation. MHI will lead the way in informing Irish society’s understanding of mental health and fostering a culture where people with mental health difficulties are respected and supported. We provide an Information Service on issues relating to mental health and mental illness through information fact-sheets, our website and directly by telephone, post and email. We support social inclusion by assisting peer support and recovery initiatives in communities around the country. We provide Positive Mental Health training and education courses for workplaces and communities across Ireland. We support our 92 Mental Health Association’s in their community work by providing current information and campaign ideas through our network of Area Development Officers. We roll out our national campaigns including Smiley Pancake Day, Solstice Wellbeing Day and World Mental Health Day and also support local campaigns. We develop projects and partnerships to promote mental health awareness in the areas of education, arts and sport.
