Mission Statement
Tearfund is a Christian development agency passionate about transforming the lives of the most vulnerable and marginalised people worldwide. Working through meaningful partnerships, we are committed to seeing entire communities lifted out of poverty for good. Our operations are run according to internationally recognised standards and Tearfund Ireland is a signatory of the International Red Cross Code of Conduct.
About This Cause
We work to transform the lives of the most vulnerable & marginalised through partnerships that empower, mobilise and build capacity. • We train entire communities to develop a micro-business in a 'Self Help Group' programme in Ethiopia, Uganda and Cambodia • We protect children who are vulnerable to traffickers in Cambodia, Nepal and Zimbabwe • We ensure refugee children have access to intervention education in Lebanon and South Sudan • We provide emergency aid in disasters when needed We also work to influence policy-makers and leaders through: • Advocacy at EU, National and local governments • Transitioning children out of orphanages and back into families • Development Education for churches, community leaders and students We provide faith-based development education and resources which are in line with the UN Global Development Goals.
