Mission Statement
Loreto College, St Stephen's Green is a community that aims to provide a rich and diverse education that caters for the needs of each individual student in an atmosphere of mutual respect and justice. We provide a holistic education where in we strive for excellence in the pursuit of knowledge. Social concerns and spiritual values are central to our educational philosophy, while sporting and cultural endeavors are encouraged. Each student is challenged to realise her full potential and to recognise the dignity of each human being.
About This Cause
The school, located in three adjoining buildings at 53-55 St. Stephen’s Green, has a city centre location. However, the majority of its students, drawn from a wide geographical area, largely come from the north and south Dublin suburbs, north County Dublin and Counties Meath and Kildare. These have been the traditional catchment areas for the school over many years. Each year, approximately thirty students from the Loreto Junior School (on the same site) enter first year, making up about one-third of the annual intake. There is a small intake of students into other classes, when vacancies arise. Loreto College is a traditional school in that families, over generations, have tended to send their daughters there. One hundred girls are admitted to the new first year each autumn. They are divided into four mixed ability class groups and this remains the pattern for the school. The development office was established in 2024 to encourage a culture of philanthropy across the whole school community. As the school evolves it must develop its campus and protect the much loved, listed and historic buildings. Over the coming years the campus will be updated with improved sports facilities, bright multi purpose teaching and social spaces alongside a brand new STEAM centre of excellence. Widening access to a Loreto College education through the Teresa Ball Access Programme goes hand in hand with the schools development plans to transform the campus and create new opportunities for all students. The school has a vision to double places on the access programme and build a new STEAM educational hub in the heart of the St. Stephen’s Green campus, Loreto College is embarking on the largest fundraising campaign in the school’s history.
