Mission Statement
Deerpark CBS is now Coláiste Éamann Rís - we are Cork City's oldest school on the south side of the city. After 190 years of only teaching boys, we became a co-educational school in September 2019. Our school is also involved in the Department of Education's DEIS scheme; the government's policy instrument to help educate/support children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Our students come from all over Cork to be taught by some of the greatest, kindest and most inspiring teachers imaginable. Teaching at our school is more than a job - it truely is a rewarding vocation - and it's addictive too! At our school, our teachers really make a differece to the lives of the many young people that walk through our doors each morning. We pride ourselves on our originality and our extensive programmes that make coming to school more enjoyable and accessible! We run free breakfast and dinner clubs, a free books scheme, free supervised study after school, after school homework clubs, countless extra curricular activities, a wide range of pastoral supports and an extensive curriculum that offers something for everyone. At night oir school houses a youth club two nights a week as well as countless other community organisations - our school really is the centre of our inner city community!
About This Cause
We are one of the fastest growing schools in Cork City, our numbers having doubled over the past three years! By supporting our school you will be helping children that come from socially and economically disadvantaged communities. Sadly for some of our students we are the only family they have. Not only are we our students teachers, we become their advocates, their mentors and role models. So please help us to help our students... our school building is 50 years old and in bad need of repair, our students families need Christmas hampers an clothes items, our parents/guardians need lessons to help them upskill and to somehow break the vicious cycle of poverty. By supporting us you will help show our students that there is more to life than 'hanging around the city', you can help give them a focus in life, help improve their school building, help add new facilities and activities, inspire them to help others like you would be helping us. This really is your chance to make a huge difference to the lives of our young people.
