Mission Statement

ATIDIM, which means Futures, is a national program developing human resources and closing the socioeconomic gaps crippling Israel’s periphery, by creating equal educational opportunities. It is a comprehensive, compelling program that identifies talented young people from Israel’s underprivileged areas and gives them the chance to get on track to higher education. Atidim's goal is to change the face of Israeli society; and this can only be achieved through providing equal opportunity access to education.

About This Cause

Atidim is a comprehensive, compelling program that identifies talented young people from Israel’s social and geographic periphery and gives them the chance to get on track to higher education. It provides the means to study, finds flexible solutions to any socioeconomic difficulties that arise and offers them the personal support and care to realize their potential. The success of Atidim’s students is measurable. They work in Israel's industrial, high tech, financial, defense and public service sectors, advancing Israel's economy and giving back to their communities. Atidim “invests in youth of privileged minds and underprivileged means.” What started out as a program with 90 participants is now serving over 24,000 young people ranging in age from 13 – 30. Atidim is transforming the lives of tens of thousands of young people and changing the face of Israeli society. Atidim’s programs focus on Education, Enrichment, Empowerment and Excellence: • Pre-Atidim (ages 13-18) Honors-level, science-oriented education for talented high school students in the periphery that increases their chances of being accepted to Israel's top universities. • Atidim Practical Engineering (ages 21-30) Mechanical, chemical and nuclear practical engineering students participate for 17 months, as a class, with a participating company, graduating with a practical engineering certificate and a job with the company. • Pre-Academic Preparatory Program (Industry) (ages 21-30) In the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, students improve their grades so they can enter Atidim in Industry. Atidim provides preparatory class tuition and extracurricular instruction to participants. • Atidim for Industry (ages 21-30) Pairs high-potential engineering and science students with Israel's top companies for education and a career. Students receive tuition, a living stipend, a laptop computer and a job on graduating. • Cadets for Municipal Public Service (ages 23-30) Socially-motivated future leaders receive support to major in fields like law, economics and accounting and enter prominent positions in Israel's municipal public sector after graduation. • Takeoff - A Program of Commitment to Israel’s Lone Immigrant Soldiers (ages 21-30) Provides highly motivated lone immigrant soldiers with wide-ranging assistance and a critical support network. TAKEOFF accompanies them from the end of their army service to college education to satisfying career paths and permanent job placement.
