Mission Statement

The OPLONTORUM Cultural Association - non-profit social solidarity organization, pursues its social mission by developing initiatives and projects for social, territorial and cultural promotion, in order to better enhance the city of Torre Annunziata (Naples - Italy) and its traditions, while providing young people, adults and the elderly, job opportunities, socialization and aggregation around territorial enhancement and tourism promotion.

About This Cause

Our project is aimed at setting up a "Promotional and Territorial Marketing Workshop" through the creation of three main attractors, namely: a "Museum of Pasta and White Art"; "Promotion and consumption of Vesuvian food and wine products" stations; preparation of spaces for "Promotion and Territorial Marketing". The ancient tradition of the city of Tore Annunziata, in fact, is mainly based on the production of pasta and, therefore, of flour. Hundreds and hundreds were the ancient pasta factories and mills in the area since the last century, thus characterizing the city itself as the capital of white art. It would be enough to mention some big brands native to Torre Annunziata - for example Voiello - and / or the current award-winning artisan pasta factory worldwide, that of the Setaro brothers, to remember and highlight what the induced "pasta" represented for this city. Unfortunately, the predominant industrialization of the north before and the consequent employment crises after, have marked, since the 1960s, the crisis in the sector, however leaving alive the love and memory of pasta and the ancient flourishing production that for centuries has characterized the true economic activity of the city. A "Museum of pasta and white art", therefore, with refreshment points (inside and outside) where you can enhance and taste dishes with pasta and above all gastronomic products typical of the Vesuvian area, coordinated by adequate promotion and territorial reception in the appropriate spaces of the two Stations, in addition to the use of an "itinerant exhibition Camper" in the Campania region, will certainly offer that fulcrum - now missing - for an incisive tourist development for the city, also certain that the locations identified (in the two railway stations) will undoubtedly encourage tourist mobility, especially the one that prefers traveling by train. This idea of the Museum, in its basic organization chart and in sync with the other elements of the project (gastronomy, the marketing office and the itinerant Camper), would not only involve young people and the elderly in a new vision of socio-cultural development of the territory , but it would also act as a tourist attraction with a heartfelt and particular public interest thanks to the enhancement of its roots and the coverage of its historical memory which is hard to pass on to the new generations, thus motivating them to a greater love for their city. With this territorial enhancement project through the "Museum of pasta and white art" with an adjoining location for the enhancement, tasting and sale of typical Vesuvian gastronomic products and offices with means for territorial promotion, that economic supply would be created with relapses remarkable occupations, as well as the cultural development of the Campania museum circuits, in a city already characterized by a proven presence of excellent bathing and spa facilities and above all, by the presence of an archaeological site of rare beauty protected by UNESCO. This project, moreover, as a whole, would develop not only in very important railway stations, but in an area where strong territorial developments are foreseen, sanctioned by institutional agreements with the Railway Authority (as per the press release that we attach) thus leaving us hope for a strong possibility of development of all the territorial activities - therefore tourist and cultural - as well as social, thanks also to the rail transport which would constitute an important link in the same development and the same activity. Other accompanying activities that would also concern the territorial promotion (the Camper, the accommodation and promotional offices, etc etc) would complete what would be put in place for the increase and the commercial and tourist growth that is being created.
