Fondazione Umberto Veronesi was set-up in 2003 with the sol aim to improve everyone's wellbeing and promoting the scientific progress, an irreplaceable resource of every man’s social, ethical and civil life.
About This Cause
The activities of the Fondazione Umberto Veronesi renew on a daily basis the vision of its founder, Umberto Veronesi, a physician who spent his entire life developing innovative scientific projects for the well-being of the population. Passion and constant commitment: these are the two words that better represent the vocation of the Fondazione Umberto Veronesi. Fondazione believes in science. Because science has no prejudices. Anyone who deals with science, at any level, with any task, must not be prejudiced. Because science is honest, simple, immediate even in the complexity of processes. Fondazione believes in these values: • Dissemination of scientific knowledge. Knowledge has no bounds, it does not have to put barriers; • Exchange and share of knowledge to accelerate the scientific progress; • Theoretical knowledge for immediate support of practical knowledge: hence the results of laboratory research are immediately available for the benefit of the patient; • Sharing the ethical content of the scientific universe in favor of the civil society. Each action of the Fondazione is carried out with: • Determination and commitment: these are the reference points for the Fondazione in achieving the targets and implementation of projects; • Transparency and honesty: just so companies and people can trust the Fondazione's projects and support them; • Dialectic and cultural exchange: People who are part of the Fondazione's work team come from professional fields far from the scientific one. Because multiplicity is wealth; • Efficiency and focus: In a more competitive and steadily growing world, a Fondazione must also deal with resources and times; • Our favourite motto is: "Freedom to know, Freedom of choosing": this is the principle pursued by the Fondazione, both inside and outside the structure, whatever is the subject of the debate. Concretely Fondazione Umberto Veronesi: • Supports scientific research through the provision of research grants for doctors and researchers and finances high-profile research projects that can develop new knowledge and new care for diseases, with particular emphasis on oncological, cardiological, metabolic and studied by neuroscience. • promotes the dissemination of scientific knowledge, sharing with civil society the themes of science, connected to everyday life, in a simple and comprehensible language. • realizes prevention and education campaigns that promote the adoption of healthy and conscious lifestyles, in synergy with schools and public and private realities in the world of research, information and publishing. • organizes international conferences about the future of science and the role that science can play in promoting the peace and well-being of people. • Disclose the importance of science in a simple and understandable way for everyone. Fondazione Umberto Veronesi dal 2003 investe in ricerca in ambito oncologico, finanziando ad oggi oltre 2100 medici e scienziati e 140 progetti di ricerca. Una ricerca di altissimo profilo, innovativa, indipendente e libera che porta a risultati concreti nella lotta ai tumori, in continuità con il metodo rivoluzionario e il pensiero dirompente di Umberto Veronesi, nella consapevolezza che solo cercando le risposte alle domande difficili si realizza il vero progresso. Fondazione Umberto Veronesi ETS promuove anche campagne di prevenzione, informando e incoraggiando le persone ad adottare stili di vita corretti per salvaguardare la propria salute.
