Mission Statement

Japan for UNHCR, in close coordination with the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) Representation in Japan (Tokyo, Japan), engages in fundraising and public relations for the world's refugees. Donations are sent to UNHCR Headquarters (Geneva, Switzerland) and are used to support refugees worldwide.

About This Cause

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems in about 130 countries. It has won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1954 and 1981. To support these activities, Japan Association for UNHCR, in close coordination with the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) Representation in Japan (Tokyo, Japan), engages in fundraising and public relations for the world's refugees. Donations are sent to UNHCR Headquarters (Geneva, Switzerland) and are used to support refugees worldwide.
