Mission Statement

To empower orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya to live strong, meaningful lives by nurturing their emotional well-being and building their confidence. Through mentorship, education, compassionate listening, and practical support, we aim to uplift withoutfosteringdependency—proving that it doesn’t take wealth to make a lasting difference, only the willingness to care. We teach the values of integrity, honor and self-worth, grounded in the belief that every child already possesses the inner tools for a “good life.” While much in life is beyond our control, how we respond—through our values, mindset, and actions—shapes our path more than any circumstance. It is this truth we aim to cultivate and nurture: that personal strength, not external fortune, is what builds a meaningful and fulfilling life. 100% of all donations are used directly to support children and orphanages through essential services and supplies, including menstrual hygiene education, school support, and wellness programs.

About This Cause

The Darren Hart Foundation is a youth-driven, values-based Public Benefit Organization dedicated to protecting and empowering orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya. Founded by Darren Juma in 2017 as a small, student-led welfare initiative, the foundation has grown into a nationally recognized force for good; offering safe, nurturing spaces where children are given not only the resources to survive, but the wisdom and confidence to thrive. Our mission is to empower orphaned and vulnerable children to live strong, meaningful lives by nurturing their emotional well-being, building their confidence, and guiding them to live lives of integrity and purpose. Through mentorship, education, compassionate listening and practical support, we uplift without fostering dependency, proving that it doesn’t take wealth to make a lasting difference, only the willingness to care. We teach the timeless values of honor, self-worth, and resilience, grounded in the belief that every child already possesses the inner tools to live a “good life.” While much in life is outside our control, our mindset, values, and reactions are always within our power—and it is through this lens that we help children realize their potential and shape their futures with dignity. Our Vision We envision a world where every vulnerable child is seen, heard, and empowered to thrive. A world where children are not defined by their circumstances, but by their character, confidence, and capacity for growth. Core Values •Inherent Worth – Every child is born with the potential for a good life. •Virtue-Based Empowerment – A good life is built on character, not circumstance. •Compassion in Action – Presence matters more than presents. •Dignity and Self-Reliance – Support should uplift, not create dependence. •Resourceful Generosity – Impact comes from care, not wealth; 100% of all donations go directly to programs and essentials. •Equity for All – We ensure access and dignity for all, including through Menstrual Hygiene Education & Pad Drives. •Community-Centered – We collaborate deeply with caregivers, local leaders, and volunteers to ensure sustainable change. Our Programs & Impact We support orphans, children living in poverty, and young mothers through programs that address both urgent needs and long-term personal growth, including: •Mentorship & Life-Skills Training •Menstrual Hygiene Education & Pad Drives •Food and Clothing Distribution •Emotional Wellness & Safety Workshops •Plastics for Charity Program – turning environmental action into educational access •Community Engagement & Environmental Advocacy Our collaborations with respected partners such as Amazon Web Services, Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation, NTT- DATA, Loreal East Africa, MyDawa Company and Mr. Green Africa have helped us reach thousands of children, demonstrating the power of collective action and local leadership. Looking Ahead As we grow, the Darren Hart Foundation remains focused on building safe, supportive environments for children, where they are not only fed, but also mentored, not only sheltered, but also taught to believe in themselves. We strive to raise a generation that is emotionally intelligent, values-driven and resilient enough to shape a better Kenya and World. We invite individuals, businesses, and like-minded organizations to partner with us in making this vision a reality, because when we walk with compassion and live by our values, we all help build a good life for the next generation. Our Story: From Compassion to Commitment The Darren Hart Foundation was born not from wealth or power, but from empathy, resilience, and a deep personal understanding that you don’t need money to make a difference. Our founder, Darren Juma, knew this truth firsthand. Growing up with limited resources in a childrens home, Darren experienced what it meant to have very little but he also knew the life-changing power of someone who cares. Mentors and role models had shaped his own journey, showing him that self-worth, integrity, and hope were more powerful than circumstance. Their belief in him lit a fire within and he knew he had to pay that forward. As a civil engineering student set to graduate in September 2025 at the university of Nairobi, Darren didn’t have financial resources. What he did have was a strong will, compassion, and a desire to be of service. When he visited a local children’s home in desperate need, where children were surviving without food, supplies, or basic dignity, he was deeply moved. He didn’t walk away. Instead, he gathered a few fellow students who shared his values and belief that presence, mentorship and listening hearts could change lives. That simple act of compassion became the seed of something greater. What began as a small, student-led welfare initiative quickly evolved into a movement. Darren and his peers pooled what little they had, sometimes just their time and began showing up for children in orphanages, for young mothers in informal settlements, and for girls facing period poverty. They ran donation drives, offered mentorship, and started grassroots campaigns focused on hygiene, health, and environmental awareness. Committees were formed. Programs were organized. The movement expanded. From clean-up drives to tree-planting, from menstrual hygiene education to mental health support, the initiative grew into something sustainable and community-led. At its heart remained one powerful belief: true impact comes not from wealth, but from the courage to care and the commitment to act. In 2021, this passion and momentum culminated in the official registration of the Darren Hart Foundation as a Public Benefit Organization, solidifying its mission to serve with integrity, compassion, and community focus. As we enter 2025 and beyond, we are returning to our core: vulnerable children, the very heartbeat of our foundation. We are focusing all our energy on creating safe, empowering spaces where orphaned and vulnerable children are seen, heard and uplifted. Not just provided for but mentored, believed in, and guided toward a life of strength, character and possibility. This is more than a mission. This is our promise. And we walk it with unwavering resolve. VISION STATEMENT A world where every orphaned child is seen not as a victim of circumstance but as a complete and capable human being, equipped with the potential for a life of purpose, confidence, and contribution. We envision communities where dignity replaces dependency, and where living with honor and inner strength becomes the foundation for thriving futures. CORE VALUES 1. Inherent Worth We believe every child is born with the capacity for a meaningful life. Our role is to help them uncover what already lives within: courage, purpose, and resilience. 2. Virtue-Based Empowerment We teach that a "good life" is not about wealth or status, but about living with integrity, self-discipline, and honor and that this life is within reach for every child. 3. Compassion in Action - Presence Over Presents We believe that showing up consistently, patiently and authentically, is the most powerful gift we can offer. We lead with empathy and show up with love. Presence, not presents, is the heartbeat of our impact. 4. Empowerment Through Education and Mentorship We focus on developing confidence and emotional intelligence through teaching, listening, and consistent mentorship, equipping children to shape their own futures. 5. Dignity and Self-Reliance We serve, not to create dependence, but to build self-worth. Every act of support is rooted in respect for the dignity and potential of those we serve. 6. Resourceful Generosity It doesn’t take wealth to make a difference. Small acts of consistent care, teaching, or listening can shape a child’s worldview. When funds are raised, 100% goes to essentials, never overhead. 7. Community and Connection We partner with local caregivers, teachers, and orphanages to ensure our work is grounded in trust, cultural respect, and long-term relationships. 8.
