About This Cause
Oum el Nour is a leading Lebanese non-governmental organization dedicated to combating substance abuse. For over 35 years, it has provided comprehensive, free-of-charge services to individuals struggling with addiction, including residential and outpatient rehabilitation and aftercare support as well as prevention services. Recognized as a pioneer in the field, Oum el Nour has a proven track record of helping thousands of individuals recover and reintegrate into society. The organization offers a continuum of care, from initial assessment and diagnosis to long-term follow-up. Its residential programs provide a supportive environment for individuals to address their substance use problems and underlying issues, while outpatient services cater to those who can maintain their daily routines. Oum el Nour's prevention initiatives target schools, universities, and communities, promoting awareness and healthy lifestyles among the youth and their parents and educators. With a strong emphasis on evidence-based practices and partnerships, Oum el Nour has earned international recognition and numerous awards, including the European Prevention Award from the Council of Europe's Pompidou Group. The organization has also played a pivotal role in shaping national drug policies and collaborating with international organizations. Key achievements and services include: • Comprehensive care: Residential and outpatient programs, prevention initiatives, and aftercare support. • Impact: Over 12,000 individuals helped through our rehabilitation services, largest residential capacity in Lebanon.
