Mission Statement

Plastic Whale Foundation’s mission is plastic free land and sea worldwide. It is our aim to create value from plastic waste, stimulating social awareness and involvement with as many children as possible. We do this by creating fun and inspiring education programs and cleanups, like plastic fishing in boats made of PET bottles fished out of the Amsterdam canals.

About This Cause

Late 2015 the Plastic Whale Foundation started an education program which is focused on the engagement of kids and young adults from a positive perspective. Our program consists of a lesson about the plastic soup always followed by a fun cleanup activity like plastic fishing on the waters of Amsterdam or Rotterdam, or plastic hunting around their own school. We see young people as very important ambassadors for our cause and our philosophy of creating positive change with the involvement of many. Once children realize that they can not only become part of the solution, but it is also a lot of fun to do so, they become the change makers inspiring everyone around them to also start making changes. We’ve learned that combining knowledge in the class room with DOING, it creates a lasting impression on the youngsters and it positively changes their perspectives on plastic; they understand that plastic is a valuable raw material for cool stuff instead of valueless waste. To date, the Plastic Whale Foundation has reached over 12.000 kids with their education programs and cleanup activities.
