About This Cause
My sister and I are proud to announce the establishment of our non-profit organization, iCare4Travelers Foundation, aimed at improving healthcare in general and specific for minorities in the Netherlands. Our initial mission is to provide comprehensive support to Muslims and minorities dealing with cancer, addressing the significant challenges linked to cultural, religious and other aspects. This does not mean we exclude others; everyone in the Netherlands is also welcome to use our services. These services include tailored health information, spiritual guidance, and a supportive community. In the near future, we plan to expand to other disease types and extend our services to other countries. Why Are We Doing This? Cancer is one of the biggest health challenges, both in the Netherlands and worldwide. The rising number of new cancer diagnoses, expected to be around 156,000 in 2032, highlights the urgent need for accessible support and information (approximately 18 people receive the bad news every hour, according to the Comprehensive Cancer Care Center Netherlands (IKNL)). This is especially true for minority communities, who may face language barriers and cultural differences that can affect the quality of care they receive. Amidst these growing concerns, our personal connection to the cause deepens our commitment. Our mother has bravely battled various forms of cancer for ten years and is currently fighting the disease for the fourth time. Throughout her journey, we have experienced firsthand how difficult it is to find understandable, accessible information about cancer and its treatment. The lack of a supportive community that considers cultural and religious sensitivities motivated us to take action. Inspired by our mother's resilience, we founded the iCare4Travelers Foundation to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by cancer. What We Aim to Provide: - Information: Access to tailored health information about various forms of cancer and holistic well-being. We use capabilities like AI to smartly tailor information to the unique needs of each person, considering their specific situation, cultural background, and preferences. - Navigation: Assistance in finding reliable resources and organizations for further support. We aim to help personalize the search for resources so that patients and families find the most relevant support. - Spiritual Guidance: Providing spiritual support to help patients and their families through this difficult time. - Community: Creating a supportive community where people can connect and share experiences. Our commitment goes beyond providing services; we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can find the help and support they need when they need it.
