Mission Statement
Mahamevnawa Dhamma Circle aims to provide effective spiritual support and systematic guidance for children, youth, and the elderly as they train and practice meditation, emphasizing its multifaceted benefits. To achieve this, the Circle in has implemented a variety of short-term and long-term strategies to promote regular and special programs. Grounded in original Buddhist teachings, the focus is on developing fundamental behavioral traits necessary to foster wholesome mental states that lead to mindfulness. These traits include but are not limited to loving-kindness, compassion, altruistic joy, and equanimity. Our methodical approach helps participants abandon harmful speech and actions, enabling them to live peacefully and harmoniously within this diverse and ever-changing society. The monastery encourages and guides the community to understand the importance of practices such as patience, compassion, generosity, gratitude, and respect toward parents, teachers, and elders. These qualities lay a solid foundation for the wholesome attributes needed to live a peaceful and happy life filled with mutual respect.
