Mission Statement

New Zealand Red Cross is all about people. Our mission is to enhance community resilience. Whether preparing for a natural disaster, or saving a family member who is choking, we want to provide Kiwis with the skills to help.

About This Cause

New Zealand Red Cross is part of the largest humanitarian network in the world, reaching 150 million people in 189 countries through the work of 13 million volunteers. The Red Cross family, including New Zealand Red Cross, works towards improving the lives of vulnerable people all around the world and in New Zealand. We have been helping Kiwis for the past 100 years with our many services: refugee resettlement, disaster relief and preparedness, first aid training for adults and children, Christchurch recovery, teaching humanitarian laws to teenagers and community support programmes such as Meal on Wheels and Community Transport. Overseas, Red Cross is at the forefront of emergency response to disasters: first aid to injured people and first aid training in the Pacific, relief items (food, shelter) and Kiwi aid workers.
