About This Cause
PISTIS Foundation is a non-profit, social enterprise vehicle, established to be a model provider of empowerment opportunities for the economically challenged in target communities. Our initiatives are centered around three focus areas; Education, Health, and Shelter. EDUCATION The PF Education Program works with academic institutions – primary, secondary and tertiary – as well as vocational training institutions, to develop a broad range of interventions including teacher training, quality improvements and offering academic scholarships. We have awarded scholarships to over 40 beneficiaries and still counting. Some specific objectives include: • Provide scholarship opportunities for promising underserved children • Provide skills acquisition training for eligible beneficiaries • Support partner schools with teachers’ training courses • Partner with academic and/or vocational training institutions towards improving their quality of infrastructure for learning. HEALTH The health program is focused on providing support for the total health and well-being of target beneficiaries for them to thrive. We hold an annual flagship FREE MEDICAL & SURGICAL OUTREACH for the underserved in target communities. The specific objectives include: • Provide quality healthcare for beneficiaries of PEF and their immediate family through health insurance schemes and partnerships with public and private institutions • Offer health education classes and health promotion activities to target beneficiaries, to help sustain their health • Strengthen health institutions in ongoing partnerships by providing needed equipment, through technology transfer and/or specialized training • Advocacy for better government health policies, legislation, and programs to benefit the economically disadvantaged SHELTER Our Shelter program was borne out of the growing situation of homeless children within our communities. It is focused on mitigating these numbers, designed to re-habilitate and successfully reintegrate them back into society. Each child must undergo a ‘sponsored’ formal basic education program and talent development. This is achieved through strategic collaboration with established individuals and institutions with shared ideologies. We have a shelter facility housing a total of 23 children where their educational and daily upkeep is being catered to. The long-term objectives include; • Mitigate the number of homeless/ street children/ persons within our target community • Become a stopgap accommodation for admitted persons with critical housing cases. • Systematically and positively transform the lives of each person in the shelter. • Provide ways of empowerment to adequately prepare the individual for successful reintegration into the larger society.
