We mobilize social partners, innovate high impact programs, and build the resilience of young women and girls to end slavery and other forms of exploitation and abuse.
About This Cause
Voice of the Free is a hybrid non-profit organization established in the Philippines in 1991. Voice of the Free (VF) fuses social entrepreneurship, social innovation, and social movement to achieve social change. With over 27 years of experience in fighting modern slavery, Visayan Forum is the country’s foremost authority in championing anti-slavery interventions. VF remains committed to its mission to institutionalize proven innovative models that reduce people's vulnerability to slavery, human trafficking, and any form of exploitation. VF has a network mindset focused on strategic collaboration with national and international partners, government, the corporate sector, civil society groups, faith-based group, and other stakeholders. VF’s work with child domestic workers has been cited by the International Labor Organization-International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labor (ILO-IPEC) and the United Nations Girls Education Initiative (UNGEI) as an international best practice. VF’s partnership with legal experts White & Case and Grasty Quintana Majlis & CIA resulted in VF using legal research to negotiate for the Magna Carta for Domestic Workers in the Philippines, a historic law that protects two million domestic workers. It won The TrustLaw Impact Award given by the Thomson Reuters Foundation. Its anti-trafficking partnership with the Philippine government and private shipping companies was recognized as a global best practice by the U.S. Department of State in its 2005 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report. VF was featured in a 2-hour CNN Freedom Project documentary entitled “The Fighters”, which became instrumental in busting a child pornography ring.
