Mission Statement
Pink Box is a foundation dedicated to combating menstrual exclusion and ensuring universal access to free menstrual hygiene products in public spaces, as well as providing reliable education on menstruation in schools. Our mission is to dismantle period taboos and include both women and men in discussions about menstrual health. We advocate for ecological and healthy menstrual solutions. In December 2019, the first pink box filled with free sanitary napkins was installed at the Women's Rights Center in Wrocław. Today, pink boxes can be found in schools, dormitories, educational institutions, hospitals, cinemas, libraries, and theaters across Poland. Local governments in cities like Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Gdańsk, and more are joining the campaign. Supported by dedicated individuals, local communities, and NGOs, Pink Box is creating a future where menstrual products are as readily available as toilet paper in public restrooms.
About This Cause
The Pink Box Foundation is a space of unconditional support for all menstruating people, dedicated to abolishing exclusion and menstrual taboos. The foundation fights for access to sanitary pads and tampons in public spaces, placing over 20,000 pink boxes filled with free products across Poland in hospitals, schools, dormitories, and social welfare centers. Operations are supra-regional and sustained by volunteers and grants. Workshops on gynecological health reach schools, disability centers, orphanages, and refugee centers. The foundation collaborates with experts to create high-quality educational materials and advocates for universal access to menstrual products in public places through petitions and government appeals. Over 80 local governments have been convinced to introduce systemic access to menstrual hygiene products, and efforts are underway for a bill to make these products available in schools nationwide. The foundation supports psychiatric hospitals and addiction treatment centers, supplying dozens with hygiene products. Education efforts extend to children, adolescents, educational staff, and parents, complemented by the Period Helpline offering free, online support from gynecologists and psychologists. Assistance is also provided to refugee and migrant women, particularly at the Polish-Belarusian border and since the war in Ukraine. The foundation works with local communities and women leaders across Poland to create more inclusive spaces. Additionally, the foundation launched an "Intergenerational Boxes" initiative aimed at people with urinary incontinence, placing products in locations frequented by the elderly.
