Mission Statement
To teach every person with autism in a way so they would learn. We spread the idea that autism should not be a reason to lower expectations.
About This Cause
We are a foundation specialised in diagnostics and efficient teaching of kids, teens and adults with autism. Out team consists of more than 100 specialists, psychologists, education, speech, psycho and physio- therapists, as well as psychiatrists. Since 2004 we offer professional support on all development stages, from infants to adults. During those 19 years we have launched a counseling centre, three preschools, therapy centre for school-age kids and a school for children with special needs. We have also applied multiple times for state and european grants, which enabled us to provide hundreds of kids and dozens of young adults with necessary therapy. We were also able to offer professional trainings to more than thousand of teachers, school psychologists and parents. We notice important and still largely unmet needs of young adults with autism diagnosis, to whom state and private sector has still not much to offer. Adults with autism often didn't have access to professional therapy in childhood thus struggle with various deficits, limiting their indipendence. Varying from inability to use bathroom to inability to sustain a job, those deficits require regular, intensive work and very specific knowledge. Many struggling adults remain in their homes, with ageing, tired parents who cannot offer needed stimulation. Therapy is often lenghty, challenging, not providing as spectacular results as it is with children - those factors contribute to little or no funds available. In turn Fundacja Scolar notices both suffering of adults with autism, as well as their potential for change. We know we are able to help them grow, become more independent, acquire new skills, find new perspectives. We believe we are able to bring change to families trapped in seemingly permanent pain. We consider autism not a definition, but a challenge - like other challenges all of us face during life.
