Mission Statement
The mission of ARNIS is to improve the health of babies in Romania through pre-term civil society prevention, information and education on early birth, the implementation of Family Centred Care principles in neonatal intensive care and the alignment of National Standards to European Care Standards developed by EFCNI, as well as providing support for long-term hospitalized babies at birth and their families in the subsequent medical recovery process up to the age of 18 years.
About This Cause
”ARNIS” is the metaphor of those special, extraordinary children who have demonstrated that they can overcome medical limitations by struggling for their lives. The Association was established in 2013 and has been a member of EFCNI (European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants), since then. ARNIS projects: 1. NICU Programe: Premature babies or the the sick ones in Romania are properly treated from the medical point of view, but, the human aspect is neglected. They are just patients and the parents are just visitors. The "NICU Program" means changing the way of caring for newborns who are hospitalized for a long time at birth, according to the principles of "Infant and Family Centered Care" and involves: 1. Trainings for doctors and nurses specialized in neonatology, 2. Education for parents, 3. Donations of materials/equipment specific to this type of care, 4. Changing the protocols in the Maternities. You can read about the Program started in 2018, here: https://arnis.ong/pot/ 2. "Medical recovery of children" Program means: 30 families enrolled in the program (premature children, children with syndromes and congenital malformations, with various medical pathological issues that require continuous medical recovery), moral and educational support offered for parents, payment for recovery therapies, surgeries, transport and accommodation, medical equipment, etc. Children's stories can be read here: https://arnis.ong/recuperare/
