Mission Statement
HOSPICE Casa Speranței is the biggest non-profit organisation in Romania provinding palliative care. Established in Brasov by its founder, Graham Perolls, in 1992 he introduced the concept of palliative care (based on the UK hospice model) to Romania. HOSPICE has developed holistic palliative care services which are provided through day centres, out-patient clinics, in-patient units, home visits and partner hospitals. HOSPICE Casa Speranței is increasing access to palliative care at national and international levels through raising awareness, providing educational programs for medical professionals, patients and the community and also by working with government to achieve an appropriate legislative environment. In Roamnia annualy 160.000 people are diagnosed with a incurable diasses and HOSPICE Casa Sperantei has the capacity to cover only 9%.
About This Cause
AT HOSPICE, WE BELIEVE THAT PALLIATIVE CARE IS A HUMAN RIGHT. Palliative care aims to improve the quality of life of patients and their families when faced with problems of an incurable illness, through medical care for patients and social support, psycho-emotional and spiritual counselling for patients and their families. Our vision is that all patients in Romania suffering from an incurable illness receive proper palliative care, at the appropriate time, so that they can live every moment with dignity, alongside their family. We care for children and adults suffering from an incurable illness, with professionalism and dedication, offering specialized services for them and for their families. We develop palliative care at a national and international level through education and training programs, consultancy and our work with government to improve legislation. HOSPICE Casa Sperantei offers specialized services (called “palliative care services”) to those who suffer from incurable diseases, with the sole purpose that patients, children or adults, can enjoy, together with their loved ones, the best quality of life and as good of a comfort as we can offer while trying to relieve the pain or any other unpleasant symptom they may experience. This is a charitable organization with a staff of doctors, nurses, social assistants, psychologists and therapists who provide their patients with free of charge health care services. WE ARE A CHARITY ORGANIZATION, OUR STAFF (MEDICS, NURSES, PSYCHOLOGISTS, THERAPISTS) OFFER ALL THEIR SERVICES FOR FREE.
