Mission Statement

When a family finds out that their child is critically ill, the news comes like a storm: they are surrounded by darkness and feel as if the ground is crumbling beneath them. A lighthouse sends out beams of light, letting them know that there’s a place where they can get help to deal with their pain. That is why we decided to call our foundation The Lighthouse. We strongly believe that critically ill children have the same rights as the healthy ones. They should not spend their lives in ICUs. We offer support to families who are willing to transfer critically ill children to their homes and provide them with necessary care. Our goal is to help families lead happy lives full of love and joy, despite their children’s illnesses, and to make sure that no child suffers from pain or loneliness.

About This Cause

The Lighthouse was founded in 2018. As a charity foundation, we help critically ill children, adolescents, and young adults under 30 years of age by supporting the work of hospices operating in Moscow and Moscow oblast. Each year The Lighthouse Charity Foundation supports about 1,000 families facing the critical illness or loss of their children. As of 2022, our budget is 950 million rubles. It mainly consists of recurring and one-time donations, which make up for 85% of our annual budget, and government funding. Families receive our assistance completely free of charge.
