Mission Statement
YOUTH LED MUSICAL THERAY (YLMT) was created to challenge the concerns that youth with disability and impregnated young girls are facing that include: poverty, unemployment, sexual transmitted illnesses and HIV/AIDS, illiteracy, limited access to useful information, poor education, high rate of early unwanted pregnancies and lack of information, education and communication to the youth on the adolescent sexual reproduction, health and Counselling services, VCT services, family planning and prevention of AIDS/HIV.
About This Cause
The organization current membership stands at twenty eight (28), females and seven (7) males with a greater proportion of the members from Rusizi District (56.25%). Membership to the organization is open to youth both in Rusizi District, other counties in RWANDA and the whole world at large who are ready to share in the organization’s vision, mission and objectives. The General Assembly is the organization’s highest policy making organ which convenes semi- annually. It consists of all members and is conducted through the delegate system that brings all active members to decide on the running of the affairs of organization. The General Assembly also elects an executive committee to run the organization on behalf of the members. The YLMT team has the sole responsibility of developing principles and guidelines for the project in line with its role and responsibilities. The secretariat has the implementing organ of the board and oversees the daily programs run in the organization and ensures that the team is firm. The Director: Chair all meetings and consult on conflict resolutions, Delegates the responsibilities of the office except where otherwise specified by this constitution, Receives, report, and respond to correspondence . The coordinator: Act as a coordinator at all functions, Be responsible for the ongoing administration, Develop networks with other groups, The secretary : Make annual reports to the membership, Maintain files and records, Maintain accurate membership records, Record and keep accurate minutes of meetings, Disseminate information given at meetings, Act as a signatory, The treasurer : Keeps financial record, is accountable of every amount that comes in and goes out, Act as a signatory. Gives financial statements and bank statements to the groups.The Monitoring &Evaluation Team : Systematic collection of informing on all aspects of the project while implementing, Systematic and objective assessment of an on going or completed project. THE MISSION OF THE ORGANISATION: To introduce music into the care of as many as vulnerable people as possible ,wherever they are. MISSION Youth Led Musical Therapy association mission is to contribute to the community development through using music as therapy. Through adopting developmental and social solidarity projects, the association seeks to meet the basic needs of the community (urgent and ongoing needs), as well as raise the cultural and educational level of families to achieve sustainable development. VISION -To introduce music into the care of as many as vulnerable people as possible, wherever they are and to be a global leader in environmental and community services. OBJECTIVES Y.L.M.T for Sustainable Development and Action on Climate Change operates on the basis of its constitution which sets out its objectives, membership criteria, the management structure and the day to day running of the organization. VALUES Cooperation, Solidarity and Partnership Since YLMT’s work is based on cooperation and coordination between all parties, whether at the governmental level, at the community level or the level of funders and donors. This is believed to represent the best ways and means to communicate with the target groups in Rwandan society. Integrity, Transparency and Credibility In YLMT we enhance the above values through the screening of integrity, transparency and accountability in all activities and implemented projects. Social Responsibility We have strong belief in the YLMT’s prominent and active community role in addressing the negative phenomena and promoting the community values and principles through usage of music as therapy. Teamwork culture We promote it based on teamwork, brotherhood and coordination among the employees of the association and its centers. Justice and Equality The belief is that every Rwandan citizen has the right to benefit from the association’s services regardless of partisan considerations, sexual discrimination between men and women or similar. Commitment The belief is that mutual trust is key to success and this trust is generated by the commitment pledged by the association towards all the society members. Respect By respecting the values and principles of Rwandan society, YLMT is willing to reach to its objectives as projected in this 5 years’ Strategic plan. Professionalism and objectivity The work is based on professional practices that are clear, smooth, and well known to all the pioneers of the organization from various social and economic levels.
