Since then, the official UN World Toilet Day commemorations has spread across the world with almost 1 billion online interactions every November.

About This Cause

We are breaking the silence on the sanitation crisis. WTO established World Toilet Day and the World Toilet Summit in 2001; this was followed by the World Toilet College in 2005 and our market-based solution 'SaniShop' in 2009 WTO continues to provide an international platform for toilet associations, governments, academic institutions, foundations, UN agencies and corporate stakeholders to exchange knowledge and leverage media and corporate support in an effort to promote clean sanitation and public health policies. - In India, our World Toilet College program is aimed at building capacity and educating individuals within the sanitation value chain. The idea is to dignify their roles at skilled sanitation workers. - In China, our Rainbow School Toilet program is implementing infrastructure and promoting health and hygiene in schools. Our aim is to ensure school children have access to clean toilets and raise awareness of sanitation in order for them to work towards a better future. - In Cambodia, our market-based solution SaniShop is aimed at improving the livelihood of the community through creating a workforce of local masons, local production, sales managers and agents. The aim is to trigger a demand for and by the community for toilets as a means of improved health and sanitation.
