Mission Statement

Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI) is an independent theatre school that offers full-time, professional actor training. ITI is based on acclaimed Asian artist, Kuo Pao Kun’s vision of intercultural actor training using a matrix of traditional theatre systems and conceptions of theatre making from different cultures, with a view to producing critically and socially engaged artists who make original, contemporary theatre.

About This Cause

Once in a rare while, a project comes along which has the potential for influence far beyond its domain or country. As a consequence of its constitution, conduct, process and outcome, it holds out the promise to be the catalyst for deep change in many other disparate fields and communities. ITI is such a project. The institute’s Acting Programme is a distinctive intercultural actor training programme for contemporary theatre in the world, and is widely regarded as a post-graduate level course. It attracts a luminary master faculty who consider their time at ITI a deep source of inspiration to their practice, and talented students from all over the world looking to take their craft to the next level. All ITI graduates are working in theatre/film and related creative industries today, and making an impact in their respective communities. ITI is a registered charity and is accorded the Institution of Public Character (IPC) from January 2010. As an IPC, we are able to issue tax-deductible receipts for qualifying donations (for individuals, companies, trusts, etc. registered in Singapore) at the present rate of 250%. As a recognised arts IPC, donations to ITI are also eligible for dollar-for-dollar matching by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth's Cultural Matching Fund. With Google Giving's gift-matching by employees, this means a triple return - for every dollar you donate, ITI gets 3 times the amount. So keep giving!
