Mission Statement
The Artground ("A Curious Place To Be") is managed and nurtured by The Ground Co Limited, a registered arts charity. We aim to provide positive arts experiences across a variety of art forms for children aged 9 and under in an accessible space that welcomes children from every community. Our vision to let art do, what art does defines what we do.
About This Cause
The Artground was born out of an underutilised old school hall, and it has welcomed more than 150,000 children and families since its opening in July 2017. It is a space where all families can feel at ease to come to, to spend some time, to discover, to learn and to be curious. We open our doors to the different communities where arts access can sometimes be challenging, and provide them with positive experiences to enrich and brighten their day. Throughout the year, we present interactive art installations that children can climb through, over and under. This visual arts space changes bi-annually, and it encourages children to explore, discover and practise their motor skills. On the weekends, we provide a variety of art-related programmes that families with young children can engage in together. These include gardening inspired arts programmes, performing arts (music, dance/movement & drama) as well as art & craft activities. It makes our hearts full when we see the many happy faces amidst the crowd that throng through the wooden doors of The Artground each day.
