Mission Statement
Voluntary civil protection o.z. (hereinafter referred to as "DCO") is a unified, purpose-built, humanitarian, politically independent voluntary civil association in accordance with Act No. 82/1990 Coll. on the association of citizens of the Slovak Republic. DCO was established on February 23, 2018, and its statutes were approved by the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic. It is a voluntary interest association of people who are interested in the field of civil protection, rescue, humanitarian activities and who want to voluntarily help in solving the consequences of extraordinary events. We are the largest civil association of its kind in the territory of the Slovak Republic, we currently have 180 members. The main goal of the DCO in the sense of the statutes is to help with extraordinary events and other situations where it is necessary to lend a helping hand in the field, directly in the affected areas. The main objective of the DCO according to the statutes is assistance in emergency situations, education and many other activities.
About This Cause
Our volunteers are united by the long-term idea of helping people in need. Gradually this idea became a reality when we were established in 2018 by registration in the register of civil associations Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic. Our members are volunteers, firefighters, paramedics, psychologists, social workers, but also ordinary working people and students. Our doors are open to people who selflessly want to help others when needed. We currently operate and have created groups of volunteers in the Bratislava region (districts Malacky and Bratislava), in the Trnava Region (districts of Trnava, Senica and Skalica), in the Trenčín Region (district Trenčín), in the Nitra region (district of Nitra and Nové Zámky) and in the Košice region (the whole region). The total number of our members in all districts is currently around 180. We managed to get authorization of the district offices in Senica and Skalica within the crisis management department to create civil protection units, thanks to which we became an organization officially authorized by the state. Civil protection volunteers focus on helping residents in various adverse situations: activities in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic, such as disinfection, testing, assistance in social service facilities and hospitals that lacked staff due to Covid-19 and transportation of Covid-19 positive persons. Help in securing the activities of the sorting tent and triage at the Trnava Faculty Hospital, at the hospital in Malacky and at the polyclinic in Senica. We carried out activities in quarantine centers established in the districts of Senica, Bratislava, Malacky and in Častej-Papiernička, disinfecting the premises of large-capacity vaccination centers in Trnava, social service facilities, schools, kindergartens and playgrounds in villages, testing for Covid-19. And to this day, we carry out selfless and professional disinfection in school and social facilities. help in natural disasters, such as floods and windstorms, as well as help in removing the consequences of the tornado in Moravia in 2021. assistance in searches for missing persons, when our members regularly participate in search actions, thereby contributing to the quick finding of missing persons and their safe return to their families awareness-raising activities and training in first aid and preparedness for emergencies for pupils at schools, but also for the adult public during public events. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, they have been providing direct and indirect aid to refugees, primarily in the form of collecting and transporting humanitarian material and setting up a humanitarian warehouse, helping Ukrainian families with initial material equipment, working in established temporary accommodation centers in Bratislava and Trenčín, helping at the Vyšné border crossing German, providing interpreters for the foreign police and Crisis management of the district office, etc. Help in securing the Pope's visit to Slovakia - in cooperation with volunteer fire brigades, lighting of several designated areas and guidance of visitors was ensured. medical supervision during summer festivals and cultural events From March 2022 until the end of August 2022, the association was responsible for the operation of the facility for emigrants from Ukraine on Prokofievova ul. in Bratislava, then on Kopčianská ul. in Bratislava it was a facility for families with children and the elderly with a capacity of 175 people, where it provided continuous permanent service. At present, the association ensures the operation of one facility for out-of-towners - on Račianská ul. in Bratislava. We also provide transportation of Ukrainian emigrants to other facilities and to the hospital, and we also look for job opportunities and accommodation for emigrants. Within the facility, we provide animators for children and Slovak language lessons for accommodated persons.
