Mission Statement
SCDI's mission is to work with the most vulnerable and marginalized populations in Vietnam to improve their quality of life and social inclusion and reduce practices that may harm the environment. We envision our work to contribute to “an inclusive society where people live in harmony with nature on a sustainable planet.” SCDI work with the most vulnerable and marginalized populations in Vietnam to improve their social inclusion and quality of life through innovative solutions to social–legal-health challenges and community development.
About This Cause
By 2030, in 12 focused provinces in Vietnam, SCDI commit to six strategic goals: Goal 1. End HIV, Tuberculosis & Malaria epidemics; Goal 2. To Achieve Universal Health Coverage; Goal 3. To Eliminate Multidimensional and Extreme Poverty; Goal 4. To Protect the Rights of Everyone; Goal 5. To Universalize Lower Secondary Education; and Goal 6. To Reduce Practices Harmful to The Environment Our focus is to address poverty, social inequality and health & well-being issues among the populations we serve. In SCDI, besides group/population names, we identify our target populations with characteristics of vulnerability and marginalization so that we do not overlook unidentified or emerging vulnerable groups or individuals. We are working with people affected by communicable diseases and other health risks, people affected by gender inequality and gender-based violence, people living in slum-dwelling areas, people living in poverty & disadvantaged conditions and people working in uncontracted sectors. Since our establishment in 2010, the populations we work with have been expanding and so do our areas of work. This growth journey has brought us a diversity of expertise and experience and activated our understanding of the importance of intersectionality in our work. Therefore, we are able to design and implement solutions that are comprehensive and effective for long-lasting impacts and transformation. The design of our interventions and support are based on both community needs – to be people-centered and scientific research – to be effective. This is the spinal approach alongside four strategic pillars, which are: (1) Community Empowerment & Community System Development, (2) Service Packages and Models Research & Implementation, (3) Advocacy for an enabling environment and (4) Active Participation in Regional & Global Platforms Our core values are: • Equity • Egalitarianism & Fairness • Dignity • Generosity • Integrity • Transparency • Concern for Quality • Effectiveness • Partnership & Collaboration
