Mission Statement
An award-winning, genuinely youth-led non-profit creative organisation. We use film as a catalyst to challenge negative perceptions of young people and raise awareness of issues that they face to change public opinions, enrich communities and progress young lives.
About This Cause
We work at the centre of communities who need it most to provide real-world film industry work experience and practical skills training via regular workshop programmes, masterclasses and paid film production opportunities. Delivering clear career paths for young people who may not otherwise have had these opportunities in life. Paid work and opportunities are available and within reach, whatever your starting point. We offer accredited AQA training to the young team as well as direct access to a varied range of partner programmes and courses through FF membership. We broadcast our film projects on our youth-led and youth-curated online YouTube channel ‘MYM’, one of the fastest growing youth-led media channels and only UK platform for a broad range of emerging and diverse filmmakers, our powerful social message films have 300k regular subscribers (70% aged 16-24yrs) and over 49 million views to date. As a unique platform for youth voices and opinions the creative/film production process has proved transformational as a way for young people to explore frustrations/complex issues, being involved in MYM is a real pull and attraction to young people who may not otherwise get involved with social change projects or have had equal access to a creative education/career. Young people tell us they are inspired to be involved in our work as it holds so much social qudos in their peer group.
