Mission Statement
Our mission is to support homeless and disadvantaged people in the Newcastle area, as we have been doing since 1985.
About This Cause
Our Organisation – providing food, friendship and futures (healthcare and accommodation signposting) to the homeless and vulnerable (our “friends”) of Newcastle. The charity has successfully been delivering this service for 30 years with the past support of over 50 companies, trusts and foundations. Awarded the Queens Award for charity in 2014. Managed by 4 Trustees and a Kitchen Council. Our work - With over 200 volunteers (no payroll or expenses) we provide 11 weekly sessions, our work embraces 40,000 hot meals per year, nearly new clothing programme, collaboration with other charities to signpost mental health, healthcare, accommodation, training, money and employment. As well as community talks, regional events, allotment programme and walking club. All the above designed to move from a safety net environment towards independent living and essentially located within the centre of the city in close proximity to client base. Directly engaging with 650 users per week who typically have drug and alcohol addiction, with 29% mental health issues and over 50% with no family of financial support. Our services re offered at vulnerable times i.e. evenings and weekends when other agencies are not available
