Mission Statement

To inspire every child to create their best digital future

About This Cause

The Micro:bit Educational Foundation is an international not-for-profit organisation founded in the UK in 2016, with the aim of inspiring every child to create their best digital future. We are living through a period of intense technological change. We want to help young people work towards a better future – one where they have the skills and knowledge to be active citizens in an increasingly digital world. We believe that these 21st century skills are pivotal to a child’s life chances, even more so as we emerge from the global pandemic, and so we want to open up digital opportunity for all. We believe that by addressing the current imbalance of opportunity, we will support the creation of technology that represents all of society and help reduce social and economic inequity. We achieve this by: * developing hardware and software that inspires young people to get excited about technology and the opportunities it presents for them * creating free, user-friendly educational resources to support teachers in delivering engaging and creative lessons * working with like-minded partners to deliver high-impact educational programmes across the globe. So far we have reached 59.5 million young people across more than 60 countries worldwide. Our aim is to reach 100 million by 2028. We are very proud of our long-standing partnerships with leaders in the fields of business and academia, including Arm, Microsoft, Institution of Engineering and Technology, Lancaster University and many others. We would welcome the chance to work with like-minded people and organisations so we can benefit more young people worldwide.
