Mission Statement
Jewish Women's Aid (JWA) is the only organisation in the UK dealing specifically with the needs of abused Jewish women and children. The organisation has two aims: To provide confidential, accessible, empowering and culturally sensitive advocacy and support for Jewish women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse Through education, training and awareness raising, to ensure that all sectors of the Jewish community recognize and speak out against domestic violence and abuse
About This Cause
Jewish Women's Aid is the only specialist organisation in the UK supporting Jewish women affected by domestic violence. JWA was founded to support thousands of Jewish women who, each year, will face physical, emotional, psychological, sexual or financial abuse from within their own home. JWA is the only organisation in the UK dealing specifically with the needs of abused Jewish women and their children. One in four will experience domestic violence in her lifetime- regardless of age, education, class, lifestyle or religion. It can take place in any intimate relationship, between partners, ex-partners or adult family members. The Jewish community is affected by domestic violence just like any other. JWA runs six core services; a Freephone national helpline, a bespoke refuge service , community support service for women who do not wish to access the refuge, a specialist children's worker who works with children of our clients who have been affected by domestic abuse, counselling services - this can be either face to face or telephone and clients can have up to 32 sessions , and education training and awareness raising programmes. All our services are completely free to any Jewish woman and children who we support. JWA is the only charity working with Jewish women and their children affected by domestic violence. We are here : To provide confidential, accessible, empowering and culturally sensitive advocacy and support for Jewish women and children affected by domestic violence. Through education and awareness raising, to ensure that all sectors of the Jewish community recognise and speak out against domestic violence.
