Mission Statement

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) is the UK charity that supports those affected by conditions that can cause young sudden cardiac death. CRY provides bereavement support and funds expert cardiac pathology after a sudden death and supports young people diagnosed with life-threatening cardiac conditions through the myheart Network. CRY raises awareness of signs to look out for, including exercise related chest pain, a young sudden (cardiac or unascertained) death in the family, and fainting/passing out. About This Cause

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) aims to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions. CRY has many ambitious projects to enable it to provide the support and research to help save young lives. Its programme of activities strives to prevent these tragedies through: - Our National Screening Programme - Funding medical research into young sudden cardiac death - Developing the CRY Centre for Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions and Sports Cardiology - Raising awareness of the risk of undetected cardiac conditions in young people CRY also supports young people diagnosed with life-threatening cardiac conditions through: - the myheart Network and those affected by young sudden cardiac death by: - Offering a fast-track expert cardiac pathology service through the CRY Centre for Cardiac Pathology - Providing a Bereavement Support Service to help those who have suffered a loss - Providing information and literature free of charge For further information please visit www.c-r-y.org.uk or www.testmyheart.org
