About This Cause
Auden Place Community Nursery is a small children's charity that runs a homely and welcoming nursery for children aged 6 months to 5 years, situated in the heart of Primrose Hill, Camden NW1. Founded in 1976, we have since grown into a full-time and flexible provider of childcare for an average of 75 children in any given month. We have a focus on community involvement and are committed to providing spaces to low income, local families, who pay a greatly reduced rate to access our provision, as we believe that high quality nursery provision is a right for all. Auden Place is the only truly parent-run nursery in Camden. While other nurseries have taken on professional management teams, our manager reports to a Management Committee of volunteer parents who act as Company Directors and Charity Trustees. We are run by parents for parents. - our story: This appeal is to cover the interim on-costs for the nursery during the Covid-19 crisis. For the first time in Auden's history we have had to shut the nursery, following government advice. However, we still need to maintain the building, pay our water / electricity / phone bills and rent and are also paying our highly qualified and dedicated nursery management team to co-ordinate our response and provide activities and curriculum stimulating activities to our parents in this difficult time. We will be applying for the government 80% wage scheme for the childcare specialists, teachers and support staff that we have furloughed and have asked our parents to contribute to our running costs. However a proportion of our families are on extremely low incomes, and receive subsidised places and are finding finances even tougher in the current environment. Therefore we would like to raise £5,000 to cover their proportion of on-costs so that we can guarantee their nursery spaces when we re-open.
