THE ECTOPIC PREGNANCY TRUST

LONDON, England, N13 4BS United Kingdom

Mission Statement

To provide information and support to anyone affected by ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage and other early pregnancy complications and the healthcare professionals who care for them.

About This Cause

Ectopic pregnancy is a common, life threatening condition which impacts around one in eighty pregnancies. It occurs when the embryo grows outside of the uterus and if not diagnosed and treated quickly can be life-threatening. It is the leading cause of maternal death in the first trimester of pregnancy. (Source: Confidential enquiry into maternal death). The pregnancy can never be saved or moved into the uterus and a variety of treatments are available. The Trust believes that no woman or person should die or suffer harm from an ectopic pregnancy and the trauma should be minimised. It seeks to relieve the emotional distress of women/people and couples experiencing ectopic pregnancy and provide ongoing information and support to them on their path to recovery. This includes if and when they are ready to try for another baby or to those who conceive or explore other routes to parenthood. The Trust's overall aims are to raise awareness of the condition and its symptoms amongst women and people of childbearing age and amongst the medical profession and general public. To provide information and support to all persons affected by ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage and other early pregnancy complications and the healthcare professional who care for them. To advance education and to promote awareness of ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage and other early pregnancy conditions. To support research into ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage and other early pregnancy conditions.
