About This Cause
Lower Moss Wood began it's work in environmental education in 1983, and gained charitable status in 1999. The current educational program gives primary school children a unique and enjoyable outdoor experience led by Warden Ray Jackson MBE who has taught over 60000 children. The wildlife hospital was established by Ray in 1988 and treats up to 3000 wild mammals and birds each year. Our aim is to treat, care for and release where possible the mammals and birds back to the wild. The majority of the work in the wildlife hospital is carried out by a dedicated team of volunteers. The charity provides volunteering opportunities, student placements and work experience opportunities. The charity relies purely on public donations as it receives no government or corporate funding.
