Mission Statement
It is our mission 'To create health, hope and happiness for everyone in retail'. From frontline workers to senior leaders, whether at the start or end of your retail career, we put you at the heart of everything we do. Your health and wellbeing is the foundation you need to flourish in work and life. It is also critical to the ongoing success of retail. We centre delivery of our mission around our core beliefs: Championing health in retail Since 1832 we have been championing health in retail. We are always looking for new opportunities to help and provide hope to our people. All in One Trust. We’re at our best when we are collaborating seamlessly together with our partners and customers to look after the health of our people. About This Cause
The Retail Trust was founded in 1832 and we like to remember how our very first Chairman, Thomas Helps, described the purpose of the charity: “To promote the happiness and interests of those engaged in the trade, whose industry, integrity, and character were too often insufficient to rescue them from suffering and want.” This still holds true today. In fact it guides everything we do, why we do it and what we believe in. We believe in it so passionately, our charity has become a movement with a very clear cause: To create hope, health and happiness for everyone in retail. Our hope is that by providing a strong feeling of trust, we can empower people through ambition and opportunity, and as our founders wished. Today we achieve this purpose for current and former retail employees, and those closest to them (their families) through a range of support, that meets their needs at any given moment in time. This includes our 24 hour helpline covering all manner of life challenges, financial hardship support, training and awareness across the retail community to improve prospects, and high quality residential retirement living across the UK (London, Derby, Salford, Liverpool and Glasgow). We offer opportunities to support our cause, sustaining the free support we offer to our vast and important retail community, through: -Volunteering at one of our retirement estates to improve the lives of our residents. -Volunteering at events which support the personal development and well being of the Retail community. - Donating to continue our free helpline support, or a project that enhances life quality for our older residents, or a project that improves the life prospects of retail workers and their families.
