Mission Statement
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and ground-breaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. For a future beyond cancer.
About This Cause
One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. As demand for our services increases it is vital, now more than ever, that The Royal Marsden can continue to develop leading-edge treatments and provide excellent care for the increasing number of patients. We are committed to funding a number of key areas across the hospital and our supporters enable us to invest in life-saving research and world-leading treatments, so the hospital can deliver the very best care to patients. For example, thanks to our supporters The Royal Marsden is now the most comprehensive robotic cancer surgery centre in the UK. Patients now benefit from less invasive, shorter operations compared with open surgery, leaving them with fewer scars and enabling a quicker recovery. Charitable support has also enabled the hospital to establish the UK’s first Robotic Surgery Fellowship Programme. This trains surgeons from around the world, ensuring that even more patients will have access to the most effective care and treatment available. But we can’t stand still. Cancer incidence is rising, nationally and globally. We need to increase our capacity to see more patients, in new, ultra-modern environments. We need to be able to offer our early diagnosis service to more patients to ensure cancer is diagnosed as soon as possible. To speed up progress, we need to provide our researchers with collaborative spaces to share expertise, driving advances in treatments for many different cancers. Our major capital appeal is the Oak Cancer Centre, which The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity needs to raise £70 million for. Our new centre will enable; 350 health professionals to provide expert care, 330 clinical researchers to work together, and 140,000 visits from cancer patients each year. We need your help to take the next step. Without the supporters of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, we couldn’t keep the hospital at the forefront of cancer treatment, research and care.
