About This Cause
We are the infrastructure organisation for the Voluntary and Community Sector in North Hertfordshire and Stevenage. We aim to bring about positive change for people by championing, supporting, and working with the wonderful and diverse organisations and individuals that make up the voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprise sector (VCFSE). We support non-profit organisations to run effectively, efficiently, sustainably, and legally through providing a range of activities including training, face-to-face advice, online resources, holding events for information and engagement as well as hosting networks and working groups and providing policy insights and influence. We are a champion for the sector and look to ensure we have a seat at the right table on its behalf. We also run a series of projects, some of which benefit residents across Hertfordshire. These include: Reach Out Hertfordshire which provides companionship and practical support to older people who are medically vulnerable and at risk of hospital admission, or have recently been discharged from hospital. Reach Out assists people by linking them up with a volunteer in their neighbourhood who can offer support to them in their own home – helping them to adjust to and recover from illness, whilst also reducing social isolation and loneliness. Breakaway respite playschemes for children and young people with additional support needs and a busy community transport scheme to help those with special access needs. GoVolHerts which supports organisations Countywide with volunteer recruitment, helps people into volunteering and runs a variety of training courses and workshops to promote and champion volunteering and good practice in volunteering. A Community Transport service for residents across North Herts and Stevenage which helps less able people get to health-related appointments such as the doctors, dentist, hospital or treatment centres. Staying Connected which aims to helps tackle digital poverty. We do this by making use of old laptops and tablets, donated by members of the public, and redistribute them to people who really need it. We also have a team of amazing digital champion volunteers who support people with their new technology and provide support and help on how to use it.
