Our vision is to achieve a community where local people are connected and involved in their neighbourhood in Lewisham and to create spaces where people feel empowered for local civic action.
About This Cause
The charity aims to develop the capacity and skills of the members of the socially disadvantaged people in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society. Originally set up in a busy health centre in Lewisham, RGTB is a multi award winning organisation and is known worldwide for its pioneering work in time banking . Through coproduction it provides an empowering and transformational form of volunteering that gives self-confidence to people who would not normally be involved in their local community. We re an incubator of ideas and social action where people of different ages, cultures, backgrounds and abilities interact with each other on an equal footing and with mutual respect. Under the banner of Lewisham Local more recently we have become the Lewisham Borough Voluntary Sector Support organisation to build the capacity of the sector, raise volunteering and promote the giving of time, skills and money for local community causes.
