Mission Statement

Inspire! is an Education Business Partnership delivering work-related learning, enterprise and work experience to young people aged 3 to 19 years from schools, colleges and community groups in Hackney, Camden and neighbouring boroughs. Inspire! aims to enable young people to realise their aspirations, raise levels of achievement and motivation, provide them with the necessary personal and employability skills for the world of work and give them access to a world of opportunities that may otherwise have remained out of reach. Inspire! works in partnership with local, national and City businesses and their employee volunteers to achieve this goal.

About This Cause

Inspire! is an independent charity and education business partnership working in the London boroughs of Hackney, Camden and Islington. In partnership with employers, Inspire! supports and opens doors for young people, giving them access to a world of choices that may otherwise have remained out of reach. We provide young people with the personal and employability skills they need to access and succeed in the world of work; we support and inform their aspirations; raise their levels of achievement, attainment and motivation and enhance social mobility. Each year Inspire! delivers over 240 programmes to more than 16,000 young people . We work in collaboration with around 2,000 volunteers from nearly 1,500 City, Hackney and Camden based companies. Our work is built on a number of principles: •We believe passionately in the importance of employers engaging with schools and young people, and know from experience how much this process enriches participants on both sides. •We believe all young people have great potential, needing only the right skills and attitudes to progress and succeed. We aim to instil these by providing young people with exposure to businesses and the world of work. •We believe that it’s never too early to start preparing children for adult life, and so deliver a variety of programmes in primary schools to children aged 3 and above, helping them to see that their future can be anything they want it to be. •Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we are passionate about challenging disadvantage. We know that some young people need a bit of extra support – particularly at times of transition, when the neediest children can easily slip through the cracks – and a more personalised approach to help them fulfil their potential. In 2014/15, we sourced and coordinated practical work experience placements for nearly 4,000 students, alongside the delivery of a whole range of programmes designed to improve employability skills, enrich the curriculum, improve careers education and provide access to valuable networking opportunities with employers. Our work with the most at risk young people includes work-focused learning, personal development courses to help build wider skills for life and employment, support for NEET young people to progress into education, employment or training and our independent Inspired Directions School, which offers full-time education for those struggling to access mainstream education. Beyond our roster of current programmes, we are always keen to work with individual schools and companies to develop new ideas and activities to enrich children’s education, forge mutually beneficial partnerships between businesses and schools and offer valuable experiences to employee volunteers.
