Mission Statement
Oracle Cancer Trust is the UK's leading national charity dedicated to funding early-stage pioneering research into head and neck cancer. Despite now being the sixth most common type of cancer in the UK and Europe, research dedicated to discovering newer and better treatments for head and neck cancer now is less than 2% and has been decreasing yearly. And, with cases up by 90% since the 1970's Oracle's research provides a critical source of pioneering new treatment discoveries. Head and neck cancer is one of the most physically and emotionally debilitating cancers. Current treatments can result in a permanent loss of taste, smell and speech. Over the past ten years Oracle has invested over £5m in funding groundbreaking research studies to improve patients’ prospects and discover newer and kinder treatments. And, as a direct result of Oracle’s pioneering work, scientists are making the discoveries that are helping us to more effectively treat head and neck cancer with fewer patients suffering from lifelong treatment-related side-effects.
